12/20/2018

This year marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. The provincial party committee and the provincial government have selected a group of advanced collectives and advanced individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Jiangsu's reform and opening up. As a microcosm and typical example of the continuous development and expansion of the reform and opening up, Haimen Dieshiqiao Home Textile City was listed as one of the “20 advanced collectives of the 40th anniversary of Jiangsu reform and opening up”.

From sneaking the stalls, it gathers into a rural market that covers the neighboring cities and towns; from the grassroots market that has grown up to the world, it has become the world's home textile center that publishes the global index; from imitating plagiarism to the United Nations copyright protection sample to lead the global home textiles Creative fashion; from small steps to explore the road abroad, to the national market procurement trade mode pilot led the way along the "Belt and Road" stride out...

Through the 40-year time tunnel, as the epitome of China's rural reform and opening up and the model of Chinese farmers' innovation and entrepreneurship in the new era, the rise of Dieshiqiao is a miracle.

In December 1982, the reform and opening up of the spring breeze, the legally recognized Dieshiqiao market stepped into the right track. In 1985, the market was upgraded to a county-level bazaar. After one year, it developed to more than 4,000 booths. The daily turnover exceeded one million yuan. Samsung jumped from Haimen’s “bottom” township to Haimen’s first “100 million yuan township”. In 1992, Dieshiqiao Embroidery City was built and attracted 2,500 merchants, gradually developing into the country's largest wholesale market for embroidery.

From family workshops to industrial parks, home textile companies around Dieshiqiao have mushroomed. The progress of market construction has also accelerated. In the 10 years after 2001, through the third phase of development, the Dieshiqiao market expanded from 50,000 square meters to 1 million square meters, and the number of stores reached 10,000. The total transaction volume was 5.5 billion in 2002. Yuan surged to 100 billion yuan last year, and it was called "the world's three home textile centers" with Frankfurt, Germany and Fifth Avenue in New York. The fissile development and geometric growth of the market have also created a wealth legend in the local area. Local residents have a “dividend” in market growth.

Go out along the “Belt and Road”

Today, Dieshiqiao's home textile industry cluster has radiated around 8 counties and districts, more than 30 townships and towns, has more than 20,000 stores, more than 2,500 companies, more than 500,000 employees, and the national market share of home textile products exceeds 50. %, exported to more than 130 countries and regions.

In the future, the Dieshiqiao home textile market will promote high-quality development through informationization, specialization, branding, internationalization and modernization, and comprehensively build the “Belt and Road” import and export commodity clusters and world-class home textile manufacturing trade centers to cultivate world-class Home textile enterprise brand and trade center.
